About me

Hello and welcome to my academic blog.  My name is Eugene and I’m doing a post graduate dissertation on organizational communications, studying the works of Edgar Schein, emeritus professor of management at the MIT Sloan’s School of Management.

My thesis topic is “Organizational Culture and Communications in the works of Edgar Schein: Application to non-profits”

My hope is that using the internet as my notepad will have a two-fold effect: get me to keep working hard and keep writing, as well as contribute to a growing body of knowledge, if someone else might find my findings and thoughts useful.

The sub-theme of my dissertation is how to get non-profits transform their identity into public discourse.  There are some who equate “identity” to “culture” (though not exactly accurate) and thus one can re-write this to how to get non-profits transform their culture into public discourse.

I will like to connect with scholars in similar fields with a view to learning from them.  I will also be grateful for comments, suggestions and corrections in order to refine my thoughts as my research progresses.

I am doing my dissertation at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome.  My principal thesis director is a professor at this university (name withheld), while my secondary director is a professor at the University of Navarra, Spain.

(Oh, btw the header photo is mine :) )

I am a PhD student at Addis Ababa University. My topic is related to organizational communication. I am planning to do a comparative study on the communication cultures of local and international organizations in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. I found your topic really interesting and I would really like to discuss some issues with you. I have not yet developed my proposal because of lack of resources. It would be of great interest to me to discuss issues with people like you who I believe have access to relevant materials and who have done a lot of reading on this area. I would appriciate it very much if you contact me. Thank you!

  2. Hi Jemal, Happy to meet you. I am sure we can learn from each other. I have sent you a mail to make contact. Thanks for writing. – Eugene
