Hypocritical Advocacy

We all have to believe in something.

If, against all evidences, one chooses to ignore the existence of the supernatural, you must of necessity seek another on which to invest this belief. That is how it has come that in many senses, Europe is standing on its head. Campaigns against Cigarette smoking… advocates for the environment, and so forth.

As noble as these causes may seem, they are to a large extent an act of denial, engaged in by people denying the essential objective truths about themselves, preferring instead to make their own truths, which is why they are often taken to the extreme.

The same persons who do not bat an eye to have an abortion, will feel terribly shocked that someone else smokes. Those same persons who see no sense in any form of life-long commitment will stake their lives to protect the ‘rights’ of animals. Such irony! Anyhow, I did find the illustration below striking.
